We help boards, general counsel, and senior executives navigate crises, investigations, and insider and physical threats with clarity and command.
The hardest moments an organization faces — a crisis under public scrutiny, a sensitive internal investigation, a credible threat to people or reputation — reward preparation and punish improvisation. Myrthil Strategic Advisors brings the discipline of a 17-year FBI executive career to those moments, paired with the business fluency to make security a partner to the enterprise, not a brake on it.
Founder Lyonel Myrthil led both the field operation and the institution — serving as a Special Agent in Charge and as Chief of Staff to the FBI's third-ranking official, helping govern a 38,000-person, $11 billion enterprise.
He stood up and directed command posts during national-attention incidents — experience that translates directly to how organizations should prepare for, and respond to, their worst day.
An MBA and former public-accounting professional, he briefs executives and directors in their own language, connecting risk decisions to business outcomes.
Lyonel Myrthil is the Founder and Principal of Myrthil Strategic Advisors. He brings 17 years of Federal Bureau of Investigation leadership — including service in the Senior Executive Service — to a practice focused on crisis management, investigations, insider threat, and executive security advisory for boards and senior leaders.
Over his FBI career, Mr. Myrthil advanced from Special Agent to senior executive, leading at both the operational and enterprise levels. As Special Agent in Charge of the New Orleans Field Office, he directed all FBI operations across Louisiana during a period of significant public-safety gains. As Chief of Staff to the Associate Deputy Director — the Bureau's third-ranking official — he advised on strategy, governance, and operations across a 38,000-person organization with an $11 billion budget, and later served as a Section Chief at FBI Headquarters.
Earlier in his career he led complex investigations, counterterrorism operations spanning domestic and international threats, and insider-threat and counterintelligence matters — including a national-security investigation that resulted in an espionage conviction and recognition from the Director of National Intelligence. As a senior leader in the Bureau's Washington Field Office, he commanded crisis and special-event operations across the National Capital Region — including National Special Security Events such as presidential inaugurations, the State of the Union, the World Series, and state funerals — and served as a SWAT commander. He began his professional life in public accounting before joining the Bureau — a foundation, sharpened by an MBA from Florida A&M University and a master's in leadership from Georgetown University, that lets him move as easily through a boardroom as a command post.
